How to Make a Fall Banner for Your Home {Free Banner SVG}

After creating a bridal shower banner for my niece, I thought, “Why not make a pennant banner for every holiday?” Now, I’m an unstoppable, banner-making machine! Today, I’m going to tell you how to make a fall banner using my free banner SVG files for Cricut and Cameo users.

Supplies

• Silhouette Cameo or Cricut Maker cutting machine
• Fall scrapbook paper
• Foam mounting tape
• String or ribbon to hang

Directions for Making a Fall Banner

This free banner SVG comes with three files intended for use on the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut Maker cutting machine:

• Pennants – Harvest Pennant Banner – Pennants.svg
• Main Letters – Harvest Pennant Banner – Letters.svg
• Border Letters – Harvest Pennant Banner – Offset.svg

Note: For the Silhouette Cameo, you must have the software Silhouette Designer Edition or above to access SVG files.

1. Cut the pennants for the banner

Once you receive your Silhouette Studio files, open the file titled “Fall Harvest Pennant Banner” to begin printing the flags, or pennants.

In Cricut Design Space, you’ll upload the files first before adding them to your canvas.

You can stick with one solid color or alternate patterns on your pennants (go on, get crazy). The file comes with four pennant shapes per 12 x 12 sheet, so feel free to delete some of the pennants if you only want to cut 1-2 per sheet.

Note: I used a 12 x 12-inch cutting mat and the same size of paper for this project.

2. Cut the letters for the pennant banner

In the photo below, I used the “Letters” file to cut the tan letter and the “Offset” file to cut the white letter background.

You’ll notice I added a bit of glam with a piece of glittered cardstock behind the tan color simply by cutting a second set of the “Letters” file. Gotta have me some sparkle!

Tip: To simplify the banner, you can always ditch the “Offset” letters completely.

3. Apply mounting tape for best results

Now, I’ll admit I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to styling my banners. It’s perfectly fine to use glue to attach the letters to the pennants.

However, I love, love, love using foam mounting tape to separate my layers because it gives more pop and depth.

First, cut small pieces of tape and place them strategically around the letters. Leave the green backing on the tape until you are ready to attach the next layer.

Given that my kids usually park themselves under my nose when I’m crafting, I always let them peel off the tape.

4. Assemble the fall pennant banner

After assembling the letters, attach them to your pennants and run a string or ribbon through the holes of your banner pieces. If you like it, then you better put a string on it, as they say!
