These days, making your own succulent arrangement is all the rage. A few months ago, I purchased REAL mini succulents…and I think I watered them to death. Now I’m onto the faux succulent variety, and I’m preaching the virtues of these beautiful, realistic specimens. You can make the easiest faux succulent arrangement in less than one hour!

Faux Succulent Arrangement Supplies

This succulent project requires only three supplies plus a planter or container.

I opted for a tree trunk planter as a container for my succulents, but you can choose any type of planter you like. For easy fall decor, try using these same succulents in a pumpkin floral centerpiece.

Directions for Assembling Succulents

Honestly, this is the easiest arrangement I’ve done all year! Follow these simple steps to get started.

Step 1: Insert foam, and fill in empty spaces with moss.

You’ll notice I didn’t fill the entire container with desert foam. Instead, I inserted moss into the empty spaces and placed my succulent stems at an angle into the foam.

I used this green Spanish moss because it doesn’t detract from the multi-colored faux succulents.

Step 2: Cover desert foam with moss until fully concealed.

I used Tacky Glue to adhere to my moss, but you can use the adhesive of your choice.

Step 3: Insert faux succulent stems into foam bricks.

To make the succulents flush with the foam base, I trimmed the stems with wire cutters. For more visual appeal, try alternating colors (reds, greens, and blues) as well as styles (cascading versus upright).

The finished piece will look something like this, depending on the succulents and planter you choose…
